Grub Terra sent us another bag of Black Soldier fly larva! We love giving these to our chickens cause they are packed with vital nutrients and have 75x more calcium then meal worms do, and that extra calcium can help your chickens lay stronger and healthier egg shells. Not only can you give these to your chickens, but you can also give these to your reptiles, fish or other birds. Grub Terra is ...

We show off our newest edition, our American Buff geese. They are loud but they are getting to know us and us them. It’s going to be a challenge to learn the language like we do with the other animals already. We also planted our elderberry sticks in pots today. We plan on planting a lot this year and selling elderberries at some point. We do have lots of extra sticks. If you would like some an...

Today we look at the baby ducks, both sets and show how big and cute they have become. We see our hand unloaded pallet of feed. Our Dingo is broken. :( And our tomato plant that grew in our greenhouse. Happy Saturday everyone.

This stuff is wonderful! It doesn't have a strong chemical smell like other cleaners would. It's more than just a grease dissolver and cleaner. It works really well for getting propolis off of your bee equipment.

    Thank you for this video ! Here on our hobby farm homestead I have a hen I initially thought was egg bound . I checked and that was not the case. My mother-in-law suggested it may be water belly. I've never even heard of this and so quickly diving in to videos such as yours to learn Quickly how to help our hen. Thanks again for the video , I'm heading out to treat my girl now ❤

    That would be messed up really in my opinion. I love rabbits and starving out her babies so people could drink it would be wrong she only makes so much milk a day and her babies need it. Plus pregnant rabbits smell funny the milking process wouldn't smell nice I bet

    Now i don't understand as in the beginning you added a Camden tablet to kill bacteria righto then you added another to kill the yeast. However how come it didn't kill the yeast at the start of the fermentation process? Im confused here.

    I like it and will give it a go. At that angle do they on poop on each other if roosting underneath each other? I read one recommendation for bars to be 12 inches apart vertically and horizontally but that seems very spread out. Yours seems less than 12 inches horizontally. If thats okay, then ill try this!

    I guess my concern is one of my young chicks (4 months now) is definitely a roo. Caught him trying to mount some of the 1yr ild hens i have. I have 2 that like to hide when they lay so sometimes i don't find a chashe until there are a few eggs (so a few day). I separated the little roo. So i guess for a month i can just toss eggs they hide that i find at after they are a few days? I plan to check a couple of the eggs from the last few days two to see if maybe he wasn't really successful yet. 😳 I just don't want a blood net in my frying pan.

    • @HappyWifeAcres
      @HappyWifeAcres Місяць тому

      If there is blood in your eggs, it isn’t from him. It her issue. Collect it eggs everyday. Look everywhere. And yes you may toss eggs you know you didn’t find the first few days a girl laid in a new location. Girls definitely like to be broody this time of year.

    I cut my hen's out carefully, she didnt panic. The infection was big - about the size of a marble. I sprayed blu kote on it and within 30 seconds her comb turned dark red and then purple and she died. I was told it wasnt the blu kote, that she probably already was compromised because the infection was so big. This was not my first rodeo with bumblefoot. I've treated two others successfully the same way. So for her to die it was sad, for sure. I want to note that she never was limping, and was eating and roosting fine... Although i dont think she had laid an egg in a few days - thats hard to tell with as many as I have. The infection was on the bottom of her foot and I couldnt tell until I did a routine foot check.

      So sorry for your loss. She may have had more internal than you knew. Chickens have a way of hiding their problems until it is too late. We have done this procedure many times since this video. Always cleaning our instruments and washing our hands throughly after. We bandage after.
